Guesthouse Diabatalo – Authentic stay in Abéné

Experience a warm and authentic stay in Abéné, just three minutes from the sea. At Guesthouse Diabatalo, you'll enjoy a homely atmosphere, affordable rooms, and personalized service. Our three accommodations consist of seven colorful rooms, each suitable for one or two people. Each room has a private bathroom, linens, and an optional mosquito net. Two more luxurious rooms, with hot water and a shared kitchenette, are available from €45 per night. The other comfortable rooms cost €35 per night. Wi-Fi and a fresh breakfast with local products are included.

Discover Senegal in a unique way from our guesthouse:
From garden walks and boat trips to creative workshops and music – Diabatalo is all about experience, encounters and connections.

  • Garden walks: Explore our garden full of cashew nuts, tropical fruits, and medicinal plants. Adgaly is happy to share his knowledge.

  • Excursions: Take boat trips to the Karon Islands or Pelican Island, fish in the mangroves, or stay overnight with a local family.

  • Workshops: Learn batik, wood carving, African dance or djembe, together with the local community.

Through these activities, we support the local economy and promote cultural exchange. We're happy to provide you with comprehensive information and connect you with local experts.

Environment

  • Guesthouse Diabatalo is located on the main road, a 3-minute walk from the sea and about a 15-minute walk towards the village of Abéné. Along the way, you'll find nice shops, bars, and restaurants.

  • Abéné Festival (26 Dec – 2 Jan) : A vibrant festival of traditional music, dance and art, attracting visitors from all over the world.

  • Kafountine , 20 minutes away, is known for its large fish market, botanical garden, and charming shops. For a delicious lunch, we recommend Bar Relax, where Paul and his wife cook with passion.

Travel & Practical information

  • Accessibility: We are happy to arrange your transfer from Banjul airport to Guesthouse Diabatalo (approximately a 90-minute drive). Banjul is located in Gambia, where you will fly into; our guesthouse is located south of the airport, in Casamance, Senegal. The journey with a car and driver costs €67.50.

  • Payment: Payment for the accommodation is made in advance, after booking. You will receive my bank details for this. There is no ATM in the village, so bring cash (€). You can exchange this for CFA at a reputable shop. Dollars and pounds cannot be exchanged here; only at the border posts between Gambia and Senegal or at your own bank.

  • Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi is available. For additional data, you can purchase a local SIM card.
