Our small-scale guesthouse runs completely on solar energy. We offer a homely atmosphere, personal service, and the true rhythmic soul of the Casamance.
Guesthouse Diabatalo features 5 colorful rooms, each with a private bathroom (refreshingly cool water), comfortable bedding, and a mosquito net. Free Wi-Fi and a fresh breakfast made with local products are always included.
Room Rates (1 or 2 people)
Our prices are the same for one or two people and vary by season:
• High Season & Festival (Dec to Feb): €40 / night
Ideal for the famous Abéné Cultural Festival at the end of December.
• Mid-Season (Oct, Nov, Mar & Apr): €35 / night
Great weather, quiet beaches, and our comfortable standard rate.
• Low Season (May to Sep): €28 / night
Perfect for budget travelers and culture seekers during the rainy season.

Garden walks: Explore our garden full of cashew nuts, tropical fruits, and medicinal plants. Adgaly is happy to share his knowledge.
Excursions: Take boat trips to the Karon Islands or Pelican Island, fish in the mangroves, or stay overnight with a local family.
Workshops: Learn batik, wood carving, African dance or djembe, together with the local community.

Environment
Guesthouse Diabatalo is located on the main road, a 3-minute walk from the sea and about a 15-minute walk towards the village of Abéné. Along the way, you'll find nice shops, bars, and restaurants.
Abéné Festival (26 Dec – 2 Jan) : A vibrant festival of traditional music, dance and art, attracting visitors from all over the world.
Kafountine , 20 minutes away, is known for its large fish market, botanical garden, and charming shops. For a delicious lunch, we recommend Bar Relax, where Paul and his wife cook with passion.

Travel & Practical information
Accessibility: We are happy to arrange your transfer from Banjul airport to Guesthouse Diabatalo (approximately a 90-minute drive). Banjul is located in Gambia, where you will fly into; our guesthouse is located south of the airport, in Casamance, Senegal. The journey with a car and driver costs €67.50.
Payment: Payment for the accommodation is made in advance, after booking. You will receive my bank details for this. There is no ATM in the village, so bring cash (€). You can exchange this for CFA at a reputable shop. Dollars and pounds cannot be exchanged here; only at the border posts between Gambia and Senegal or at your own bank.
Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi is available. For additional data, you can purchase a local SIM card.
